State Democrats getting big dollars from Obama, DNC

Supposedly, the money is going toward an army of field operatives in the Palmetto State who are working overtime to get out the vote and, despite polls showing a healthy McCain advantage, put South Carolina in the Democratic column for the first time since 1976.

Also, the DNC is funneling tens of thousands of dollars here, presumably to try and pull upsets in SC-1 and SC-2. The national party has given $124,964 over two weeks in late September.

Will it make a difference? It would have to be a very, very bad night for the GOP if the Dems can flip those races — more likely, it will simply mean smaller margins of victory for the Republicans.
