SMU sticks it to Notre Dame

Anytime Notre Dame gets the fuzzy end of the lollipop is a good day, and it happened again when Southern Methodist AD Steve Orsini gave his alma mater the “big fuck you” and decided to stay at the helm of the Mustangs’ athletic program.

Honestly, Orsini, a player on Notre Dame’s 1977 national championship team, has compiled a mixed record in Dallas. While he’s shaken things up and instigated needed changes, the big sports have yet to rebound. Football, especially, still hasn’t recovered from the “death penalty” shutdown of the ’80s.

Not that it can’t happen, though. Northwestern went to the Rose Bowl with the right coach and right players in the ’90s after being godawful, so the Ponies have every chance to get it back together.

At least one thing is for certain: the Irish have to keep lookin’. Who wants to live in northern Indiana anyway?
