Alabama’s Jimmy Johns arrested for cocaine distribution

Johns has now been charged with selling cocaine – five counts – and it looks like the authorities have him pretty good. It’s a shame, because Johns was Mississippi’s Mr. Football coming out of high school, and was a major recruiting get for former Tide head coach Mike Shula.

Early on, he was expected to be a multiple-threat talent. He could play quarterback, running back and just recently was moved to linebacker. But, he kept getting in trouble. According to one kid who lived in the same building as Johns last year, he always looked stoned. It would stand to reason, then, that part of the reason he was always in the coaching staff’s doghouse was because of Mary Jane.

It’s all over now, though. Maybe he’ll be able to work out his mess after serving time, but his chances of being a star SEC player, or a player at any school, are done.
