Scolari in at Chelsea, Lampard could be out

It’s officially the summer sports season, which should mean that, this year, you should be able to roll over to the Cock and Bull to see England perfectly screw up a chance at winning its first title in forever. But, as the team couldn’t even make it to Euro 2008, we get to bask in the great soap opera that is the Premiership offseason.

After John Terry’s penalty miss against Man U in the Champions League final, Chelsea’s Avram Grant got the boot, and now a manager with a top-flight resume, Portugal’s Luiz Filipe Scolari, is in.

And there was much rejoicing.

But, not so fast. It’s been rumored all over the international press that fan favorite Frank Lampard is on the way out. Word is that former Blues manager Jose Mourinho is trying to take him and striker Didier Drogba to Inter Milan, along with Barcelona’s Deco.

Granted, Mourinho has a past of poaching talent from former clubs, as he did at Chelsea when he raided Porto. But, now the shoe is on the other foot and it doesn’t feel so good.

Supposedly, Scolari will have a meeting with Lampard and see about working out the deal – Lampard wants four years on his new contract, and the club’s only offering him two.

Hopefully the club and the Scolari will be able to mend some fences and keep Lampard in the fold, along with Drogba. On the pilfering end, the new manager is making eyes at Deco, who seems like a decent bet to come aboard. The hilariously named Kaka, however, has declined moving his game to London.
